Buenas tardes a todos,
This week we are starting a new section of the chapter with more classrooms, more adverbs of time, invitations, acceptances, and refusals and a continuation of "to have" expressions, and the verbs "to come", "to go", and we will be introducing more "er" and "ir" verbs and how to conjugate them. The students already know the regular conjugations, but we will be studying some irregular verbs also.
On another note, Señorita Carvalho will be observed this week by her profesor de español from Rivier College in Nashua as part of her student teaching experience. The students seems to like her and I feel that she is doing a wonderful job with them! I will be out Wednesday and Thursday of this week because my husband is having major surgery and I need to be in Boston both days and perhaps Friday too. Señorita will take over the class, now that her profesor has observed her to do so.
Homework for this week will be:
lunes noche: make a list of places to go in a school from pages 132 and 133 in your 3rd section under the heading "Los Lugares" which you already have started. Then, in section 2, put the adverbs of time from pages 132 and 133 in there and add to them the list you have already started.
martes noche: new packet- page 36 ex 15, page 43 ex 14
miércoles noche: pagina 35 ejercicio 12, pagina 43 ejercicios 15 y16
jueves noche: pagina 40 ejercicio 22, pagina 44 ej 17, pagina 45 ej 20
We are on a push to finish up chapter 5 in our books before the end of the year. We are now finishing up Chapter 4. Our test for chapter 4 will be Friday of next week (March 23), because the following week will be going to Washington on Tuesday through Friday, the 27th thru the 30th. After that there will be 3 technology days the week of April 2nd, one full week after that and then we have April vacation. Time is running short because in between we have 5 MCAS shorten days and before you know it, it will be over. Thank you for your understanding if I have to give weekend homework to catch up. ¡Gracias!

work for the week of February 13, 2012
Buenas noches a todos,
We are now finishing up chapter 3 and hopefully feel fairly comfortable with the new vocabulary, conjugating " ar" verbs, the verb to go, the verb to want, the verb to play a sport and adverbs of time. We had a quiz and a chapter last week which we will be getting back this week before vacation. This week we will be working on writing and performing dialogs in front of the class, playing Valentine's Bingo, watching a video on chapter 3 with the characters in the serial story that we have been following, and working in groups and partners. We will be starting chapter 4 after vacation, so it is important that the students make up all their missing work before vacation.
This week Señorita Carvalho and I will be staying after school Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for make up work, test corrections, and retakes. I have announced that we will be staying all week. Friday is a half day and grades close when we come back from vacation on Friday March 2nd.
Homework for the week of February 13, 2012 is :
lunes noche: make a ponga (bingo) sheet from the list of Valentine words that you got in class.
martes noche: write 10 sentences on the back of the "Con qué frecuencia" worksheet that we did in class last Thursday.
miércoles noche: do the next 10 sentences on the 50 sentence worksheet that we use for warm ups. Should be numbers 36 through 45.
jueves noche: no tarea
viernes noche: no tarea durante las vacaciones
Have a nice vacation! Señora Schneider and Señorita Carvlaho

Work for the week of February 6, 2012
¡Buenas tardes a todos!
We have been continuing our studies of "AR" verbs and their conjugations, weather expressions, adverbs of time, the verbs "to go =IR", the verb "to want = QUERER", the verb "to play a sport =JUGAR", and the verb "to like = GUSTAR". We have also been focusing on subject pronouns, places to go, the contractions "AL" and "DE", and other nouns that go with the action verbs. We have been busy working in groups, partners and doing whole class activities to use our language skills. The children are really coming along. We are having another quiz this week on Wednesday the 8th and will have more writing of sentences, multiple choice, and fill in the blank. There will be a CHAPTER 3 TEST on Friday the 10th with all of the above mentioned items on it. We will be reviewing all week with more partner and group activities with verb games, connect 4 and more writing. We will also be doing a Valentine's calendar.
This week we will be staying Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for extra help and practice. If you need to make up or retake quizzes, this is the time to do it! I cannot stay this Thursday due to another commitment, however, perhaps Señorita Carvalho will be able to if a student is in need of help.
Homework for this week will be:
lunes noche: Valentine's calendar with 8 colored items about love and Spanish labels and numbers Study
martes noche: Pagina 58 in the paquete we are finishing off. Do both parts. I'm taking the essay. Study.
miercoles noche: Worksheet on pronouns and conjugations that I will give to you. Study.
jueves noche: Paginas 108 and 109 in the book Exercises 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This is the chapter 3 review.
viernes noche: nada
STUDY!
There will be an ELA MCAS practice tomorrow until 10:00 so there will be shorten classes. We have been noticing that too many students are not completing their homework or class work assignments. I have been asking more students to stay to catch up. If you are behind, you will be staying. Do the work!
Preview next week: video on chapter 3, dialogs and presentation of dialogs with partners, and more "ar" verb practice before we get to "ER" and "IR" verbs. ¡Qué divertido!
Hasta luego, Señora Schneider y Señorita Carvalho

Work for the week of January 30, 2012
Buenas tardes a todos,
This week Ms. Carvalho from Rivier College will begin her student teaching in all my Spanish classes. We will be reviewing what we learned last week about "AR" verbs, vocabulary, adverbs of time, the irregular verbs "ir" and "jugar", and weather. We will be doing fun activities that involve card games, scrabble, and other verbs practices to help reinforce our knowledge of Spanish verbs and conjugations of those verbs. I am looking forward to working with Señorita Carvalho this spring. I'm sure she will bring us some new ideas and activities to try out in class. There will be a quiz on "AR" verbs on Friday, February 3rd and how to conjugate them, and there will be a test next week toward the end of the week. We will also be performing dialogues in the near future.
Homework for this week is:
lunes noche: paginas 31 toda, 33 ejercicio 25
martes noche: paginas 26 toda, 27 ejercicio 17
miécoles noche: paginas 27 ejercicios 18 y 19, pagina 28 toda

Work for week of January 23, 2012
Buenas noches a todos,
After having two quizzes last week, we are now learning more new verbs and new vocabulary this week. The pace of the class will definitely be picking up as we will be learning many new things each week. For example, this week we will be learning more about weather, new "ar" verbs, new vocabulary about places to go, how to conjugate the verb "to go", how to conjugate the "ar" verbs with all their different endings, and adverbs of time. This is a lot considering we have a half day this week on Thursday with shorter class times and some classes will miss some classes on Friday due to an assembly about course selections at the high school on Friday.
This week I can stay Tuesday until 3:00-3:30 and only until 2:45 on Wednesday. Thursday is a half day and Friday is not good either.
Homework for this week in the new packet will be:
Lunes noche - page 29 whole page, page 25 ex 13, page 36 ex 31
Martes noche - page 24 ex 9 and10, page 36 ex 29 and 30
Miercoles noche - page 20 whole thing and 34 whole page
Jueves noche - page 25 ex 12 and 14, page 32 whole page
Viernes noche - nada - nothing
There are no quizzes this week due to the half day and assembly for some classes. A quiz on the verbs and their conjugations will probably happen next Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, make sure you study, make flash cards, and ask me for help after school if you need it!
Hasta luego, Senora Schneider
